Stacked Tuxedo Bow

Hi ladies! I have had a few inquiries on how to make this bow! It's super simple! Basically it's 2 tuxedo bows stacked on top of each other.

I honestly think it's the ribbon that makes it look pretty!!

Here's what you'll need:
- 1.5" ribbon
- a lined barrette or clip to attach your bow to
- a glue gun and glue sticks
- thread
- a ruler
- scissors
- a lighter
- metal clips
- a pair of tweezers (optional)

Measure and cut your ribbon.  You need one strip at 9" and one strip at 8.5".  If you intend to use one patterned ribbon and one solid ribbon, like in my example, make sure you cut the ribbon you want on top to be the longer length of ribbon.
Seal your ends with your lighter.
Take one strip and fold it in half lengthwise.
At the center, crease the fold.
Open up your ribbon and you should still be able to see your crease.
I personally draw a line down the center on the crease so I can see it better.  It won't show in the finished product.  This is totally optional.
This is what it will look like after you draw the line.
I also draw a line on the front side of the ribbon as well.  This is also optional.
Fold in one side of the ribbon just a little past the center line.
Do the same on the opposite side making sure to once again cross the center crease.  This will help the bow keep it's shape better.
Here is a side view of how far I crossed my ribbon over the center line.
Take a clip, or something of the sort, and clip the edges in place.
Repeat with the shorter length of ribbon.
Now stack the longer ribbon on top of the shorter one.  I cover just about half of the shorter length of ribbon.  I also line up the center lines I drew earlier.
This is side view of the top and bottom ribbon stacked on top of one another.
here is the front view with the clip taken off.  Make sure you have a strip of thread cut and ready to use at this point.
Fold your bow in the center creating 3 mountain peaks and 2 valleys.  As you can see, this is where drawing those lines come in handy with making sure everything is centered.
Wrap the thread around the center of the bow a few times and tie off the thread.
I use a clip on the back to hold my center creases while I tie off my thread.  It serves as a 3rd hand for me!!
Now you have your bow!
For the center, cut a strip of ribbon to 2.5".  If you cut it any longer or shorter, it will change how the results look.  Feel free to play around and see what you like best. Lightly heat seal the edges. Sealing the ribbon lightly is the best as it will allow you to make creases more easily in the next step.
you will fold one side of the ribbon into thirds (or a sideways capital "N").
Take your glue gun and put a few dots of glue on the ribbon close to the edges to hold the layers together.  Only do this on the edges as it will cause the final shape of your center ribbon to change if you don't keep the glue close to the edges.
On the opposite side you will do the same thing EXCEPT, fold your ribbon in thirds facing the opposite direction.  (Please scroll down and you will see a different picture that will make this more understandable.)
Another way to keep your tri-fold ribbon together is by heat sealing the 3 layers together.  You can use a metal clip to hold the ribbon together (or a pair of tweezers).  Use a lighter to melt the edges together.  Be very careful not to burn yourself or burn the ribbon in the process.  The metal clip can become quite hot, so use caution when touching it.  After I sear the edges together I usually blow on the clip and wait a few seconds before taking it off.  This will make sure the clip is cool to the touch and the edges are sealed together and cooled.
Here is what it will look like when the 3 layers are sealed together.
In this picture you can see how the peak and valley folds in your ribbon are on opposite sides.
If you stretch out your ribbon, it will look like this!
With the center ribbon stretched out, place your finished bow, front-side down, in the center.
Glue one edge to the back.
Glue the other edge to the back.
You have a finished hairbow!  Now glue this to the back of a lined barrette or clip.
Here are a few others I made.  I absolutely love making these!!
